This popular festival, which will take place on the fairground, is a multicultural event promoting the gastronomy, culture and folklore of the participating countries. Among those represented are the UK, Finland, America, Cuba, India and Morocco. Six regions of Spain will also be represented and these include Andalucía and the Canary Islands.
Puerto Rico, South Africa and the Ukraine will take part for the first time this year and there will also be a new a gastronomic fair called Sabores de lo Nuestro (flavours of ours). This will be located in a central marquee and will offer visitors the opportunity to sample and buy traditional products like cheeses, cured meats, spices, herbs and sauces.
One of the highlights of the festival is the colourful parade of all the countries involved, which leaves the Plaza de España at 11.30am on Saturday.
The casetas, which are open from 1pm until 4am, are brightly decorated with the country's individual colours and many of the visitors dress in traditional costume.
Live music and dance performances will take place throughout the afternoon and these will include jazz, reggae, flamenco and rock. The popular David Bowie tribute band, The Spiders from Marbs, will be performing in the British caseta every day of the festival.
An official programme, which includes a map of the feria ground and the casetas, can be obtained from the town hall or from the tourist office.
