Malaga's Paula Ruiz gets bronze medal in the Ría Navia descent

The Olympian returned to the water to compete in the five-kilometre test in the Asturias

Some of the Malaga Olympians are still on holiday, but that does not mean that they have decided to resume sports activity for mere pleasure. This is the case of swimmer Paula Ruiz, who debuted in the last Tokyo Games with a credible 16th place in the 10 kilometres in open water.

The young woman from Malaga city took part last weekend in one of the most traditional tests in Spain in open water, the Ría Navia de Asturias descent, which also has an international presence every year. And not only did she participate, (without training), Ruiz achieved third place in the five kilometres with a time of 43 minutes and 6 seconds. Just over a minute later (44:45), the Malaga international María de Valdés also reached the finish line, in seventh place.
