The fifth edition of the Holiday World coastal fun run brought together a record 1,500 participants on the Benalmádena coastline on Sunday.

The event, organised in collaboration with Benalmádena town hall in aid of the Fundación Proyecto Hombre Málaga, departed from the 'elephant roundabout' at 10am and was split into three different distances: five kilometres, ten kilometres and a half marathon (21 kilometres).

After the races had concluded, Holiday World's beach club hosted a party with music and paella for participants and supporters with a further collection for Proyecto Hombre.

In the half marathon event Andrés Carnevali (from Triatlón Benalmádena) won in the men's category with a time of 1h.13:18. Juan Antonio Alarcón came in second (1h.16:10), just ahead of Luis Enrique Lérida (1h.16:33).

In the women's category, Gabriela Vieitez (1h.35:31) won with a clear lead over the second and third placed runners, Ana María Andrade (1h.46:19) and Silvia Daniela Fernández (1h.47:57). For many, this was perfect preparation for the Malaga Half Marathon in two weeks.

The day raised a total of 30,000 euros for Proyecto Hombre.
