Club Goju Ryu shines once again in regional youth championships

  • The Torremolinos-based youngsters picked up a total of nine medals

Club Goju Ryu in Torremolinos shone once again in the recent Andalusian Youth Karate Championships, returning home with nine medals.

Competing in the 'alevín', 'infantil' and 'juvenil' categories, the young karatekas claimed three gold medals, two silver and four bronze in kumite and kata.

The Torremolinos-based youngsters competed against more than 500 others from across the eight provinces.

The medal winners in the alevín category were: Lucía Mengíbar (gold in kumite, bronze in kata), Naim Zarouai (gold in kumite, bronze in kata) and Fernando Mengíbar (silver in kumite).

In infantil, the medallists were: Sandro Guerrero (golf in kumite), Mateo Cabello and Jorge Capitán (silver and bronze in kata).

Juan Francisco Galera, meanwhile, picked up bronze in kumite at juvenil level.
