Recovery from a knee injury is taking its toll on Malaga shot putter Borja Vivas, 34, who told SUR last week: "I think about my future every day and there are times when it seems that it's not worth carrying on."
The European silver medallist and one-time Olympian last competed at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona last summer and has had to withdraw from competition while he recovers from tendon damage to his left knee - the first long-term injury of his career.
But despite continuing discomfort, Vivas is determined to take part in the Spanish Championships in Antequera in mid-February. "I need to take it slow but I don't want to bow out because of injury. I want to compete".
