On the evening of Saturday 11 November, the Rosaleda was packed as locals got the chance to see some of Spain's football heroes take on Costa Rica in a friendly match. The atmosphere in the full stadium was incredible as Spain demonstrated their strength as a team, beating Costa Rica 5-0.
The Federación Española has reason to celebrate as, thanks to this match, Malaga has demonstrated its capability to host massive international games and hopefully will do so again in the future.
Thousands of Spanish flags were waved, creating a sea of red and yellow in the stadium as Spain constantly dominated the game. Malaga-born midfielder Isco was a clear fan-favourite during this match, receiving a standing ovation when he asked to be substituted after a being injured by a rough tackle from Costa Rica defender, Kendall Watson.
A number of second half substitutions changed the dynamic of the game, but overall Spain looked very good and should consider themselves as strong contenders for the World Cup next summer.
