Suspect arrested for attacking face mask request policeman on a bus

The off-duty police inspector needed hospital treatment after being brutally beaten on public transport in Zaragoza

National Police officers have arrested a man in Alicante, who is accused of brutally beating a policeman for asking him to wear a face mask on a bus in Zaragoza, to comply with Covid-19 regulations.

The off-duty police inspector was attacked on 17 October and was kicked and punched several times, suffering an eye injury, cuts and bruises that required hospital treatment.

The alleged attacker was identified and had been tracked for several days. Police believe that he intended to flee Spain.
