A 22-year-old cadet from Gijón, identified with the initials PJS, has died this Monday (7 September) at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza as a result of suffering heat stroke during manoeuvres.

The young man had been with his companions of the third battalion of fourth-year students of the centre, carrying out an instruction and training exercise.

During the morning, the cadet's lifeless body was found on the ground, and nothing could be done to save him. He was transferred to the Aragon Institute of Legal Medicine (IMLA), where an autopsy was performed, which confirmed his sudden death was due to heat stroke.

Through an official statement, the General Military Academy stressed that the priority of the Army at this time is "to support his family and do everything they can to help them in these difficult times for all."
