Leroy Merlin, the huge DIY chain with superstores across Spain, has issued an urgent recall for a white-label charcoal barbecue that it has sold but doesn’t meet EU safety requirements and could present ‘a risk of burns, injuries and fire.’ The product has also been on sale in Aki Bricolaje.
The company has warned, on its website, of the risk of fire due to overheating of its Naterial Icarus Beta barbecue, and asks users who have bought one to return it to any establishment in the chain.
Specifically, the product has a reference number of LM 81965923 with with barcode 3276000413639. According to the company, “a safety risk has been detected in the barbecue: when it works with a full charge of charcoal, it can reach temperatures higher than the maximum established by regulations, and there may be a risk of burns / injuries and fire.'
Leroy Merlin tells users who have purchased this model of barbecue to go to any establishment of the company “to proceed with its return or its replacement with an equivalent model. It is necessary to provide the purchase receipt of the product.”
