Andalucía's Covid incidence rate drops below 400 for the first time in a month

  • The region has added 2,031 new coronavirus infections and 30 deaths in the latest daily update

A total of 30 people have lost their lives to Covid in Andalucía this Thursday, 19 August, and the number of new coronavirus infections stands at 2,031 in the last 24 hours, which is 905 more than Wednesday, although much lower than the 3,669 reported on the same day last week.

According to data from the Junta’s Ministry of Health, the coronavirus incidence rate of the region has dropped below 400 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, for the first time since 19 July, to stand at 390.8 - which is down 136.6 down in a week.

The 2,031 positives are higher than the 1,126 of Wednesday, 3,303 on Tuesday, 1,768 of Monday and Sunday, 3,286 positives on Saturday, 3,687 on Friday and 3,669 last Thursday.

By provinces, Seville continues to be the one with the most cases with 514 cases, followed by Malaga with 335, Cadiz with 291, Granada with 258, Cordoba with 178, Jaén with 170, Huelva with 143 and Almeria with 142.

As for the 30 deaths, more than half (16) were in the province of Seville, followed by Almeria, Granada and Malaga with four each and two in Cordoba. Cádiz, Huelva and Jaén are the provinces that have not added any deaths.
