A total of 4,496 new cases of coronavirus infections have been reported in Andalucía this Thursday, 5 August, higher than the 3,655 of the day before and slightly lower than the 4,893 of seven days ago, according to official data.
The Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalucía (IECA), has also counted 15 deaths, the same as on Wednesday and higher than the 13 deaths last Thursday.
The region’s cumulative incidence rate has dropped for the second time after 33 days of consecutive increases and stands at 584.9 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, some 1.1 points less in 24 hours, but 30.9 points more in a week.
The 4,496 positives this Thursday were recorded after 3,655 on Wednesday, 4,459 on Tuesday, 4,467 on Monday and Sunday, 5,138 on Saturday, 5,099 on Friday and 4,893 last Thursday.
By provinces, Seville is again the one with the most cases, with 1,088, followed by Malaga with 873, Cadiz with 700, Almeria with 446, Jaén with 381, Granada with 379, Cordoba with 357 and Huelva with 272.
As for the 15 deaths, six were registered in Malaga, four in Almeria, two each in Seville and Cordoba, and one in Granada.
Number of hospitalised patients drops but intensive care numbers increase
Regarding health pressure, there has been a drop in the number of hospitalised patients to a total of 1,327, nine fewer in 24 hours but 158 more than seven days ago, while the number of patients in an intensive care unit has risen to 254, some 16 more in a day and 50 more in a week. It is the highest number admitted to an ICU since 20 May (258).
