Firefighters and the Guardia Civil in Toledo have rescued a 28-year-old man who was trapped in a four-metre-deep well when he tried to help his dog, which had fallen into the hole

The incident happened when the young man took his pet for a walk on the outskirts of the town of Olías del Rey in Toledo.

The dog fell into the well, which was hidden by undergrowth. The young man jumped in to try and recover his pet from the four-metre-deep hole but couldn’t climb back out.

His partner alerted the 112 emergency services Guardia Civil officers found her in a distressed state at the scene. The police then called in firefighters who rescued the exhausted young man, with the dog in his arms.

The 28-year-old was taken to the Virgen de la Salud hospital in Toledo with signs of hypothermia.
