The Junta de Andalucía's Minister of Health announced this Monday (26 July) that the Covid vaccination of minors will begin in the region on Thursday.
Jesús Aguirres said that vaccinations in Andalucía "will open tomorrow (Tuesday)" for those between "18 and 19 years old", while in on "Thursday they will open" for those between "17 and 18 years old."
Aguirre highlighted, "we are already talking about minors", whose vaccination appointments "can be requested by parents or guardians, and the minors must be accompanied to the vaccination points by them, just as we do with the other vaccines – such as those for meningitis or papillomavirus.
The region’s Health minister also pointed out that the Delta variant of Covid-19 "is already the predominant one in Andalucía", accounting for up to "65 per cent" of infections, while highlighting that "we have given 9,754,813 doses of vaccines", which, he said, is "more than 100 per cent of those that they send us", thanks to the use "the tail end of ampoules” that can deliver several more doses.
