Andalucía adds the highest number of new Covid cases for a month

  • The cumulative incidence rate of the region has risen for the eighth day and stands at 181.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days

Andalucía has registered a total of 1,639 new cases of coronavirus this Thursday, 3 June, the highest figure since the 1,706 on 3 May, when the statistics for two days (the Monday and Sunday before) were registered, according to data from the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalucía (IECA).

The official organisation has also counted ten deaths, which is five less than the day before and the same as on Thursday last week.

The cumulative incidence rate of the region has risen for the eighth consecutive day and stands at 181.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, some 3.7 points more in one day and 16.8 points more than last Thursday.

The 1,639 cases this Thursday are counted after the 1,492 on Wednesday, the 1,293 on Tuesday, the 1,397 on Monday and Sunday, the 1,595 on Saturday, the 1,497 on Friday and the 1,458 last Thursday.

By province, Seville is once again the one with the most positives with 444, followed by Malaga with 327, Granada with 217, Huelva with 174, Jaén with 167, Cadiz with 146, Cordoba with 121 and Almeria with 43.

The Andalusian region has seen a decrease in the number of Covid-19 patients in hospital to 794, down 46 in the last 24 hours and some 32 less than seven days ago, while those admitted to an intensive care unit have also fallen to 200, six less than Wednesday and 28 less than Thursday of last week.

Seville is the province with the most hospital cases with 211 and 57 patients in ICU, followed by Granada with 141 and 43 in ICU; Jaén with 106 and 23; Malaga with 109 and 19 ; Cadiz with 70 and 18; Cordoba with 72 and 23; Huelva with 63 and seven; and Almeria with 22 and 10.

Seville is the province with the most deaths with seven, followed by Granada with two and Cordoba with one.
