The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition has issued a nationwide health alert after authorities in Andalucía discovered the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, above the established limits, in a smoked salmon marinated with dill product that was manufactured in Spain.

The manufacturing company has contacted its customers and is managing the recall of the product from sale.

The product is the Royal brand dill-marinated smoked salmon. The affected batch is 1098B1-098, with an expiration date of 05/23/2021 and EAN841248-051128-0 barcode.

The product has been distributed nationwide, although no cases of illness associated with this alert have been confirmed in Spain.

However, as a precautionary measure, it is recommended that people who have products from the affected batch in their homes, refrain from eating them and return them to the store where they were bought.

If you have consumed a product from the affected batch and present any symptoms compatible with listeriosis (vomiting, diarrhoea or fever), it is recommended to go to a health centre.
