  • The number of new infections and the incidence rate for the disease have risen to new highs

Never before during the pandemic in Spain have the records for new coronavirus infections and the accumulated incidence rates both been broken simultaneously.

In what is being described as “probably the darkest day since the outbreak of the coronavirus” 40,197 new infections have been registered in just 24 hours.

Also, in a single day, the national cumulative incidence of the disease jumped from 522 cases per 100,000 inhabitants to 575.
