  • The regional government announces a meeting of their committee of experts on 8 January that will adopt "proportionate measures" to beat the virus

Junta de Andalucía spokesman, Elías Bendodo, has not ruled out adopting new restrictions after the festive period to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Bendodo has announced a meeting of the regional government’s committee of experts for 8 January, just two days before the expiry of the measures that were adopted over the Christmas, New Year and Three Kings holidays.

At the meeting the Junta will choose to maintain, relax or tighten the existing restrictions.

The Andalusian government spokesman doesn't rule out new measures to curb spread of the coronavirus and insisted that the restrictions will always be in accordance with what the expert committee decides and in accordance with "proportionate decisions."

The councillor stressed that the Junta continues to analyse the evolution of the pandemic on a daily basis and will always put forward measures that prioritise health and at the same time have the least possible impact on the economy.
