  • Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said on Saturday that any further easing of lockdown restrictions in Spain would only be applied if the the evolution of the coronavirus remains good

Prime minister Pedro Sánchez said on Saturday evening that if the evolution of the spread of the virus remains good, people in Spain will be allowed to go out for walks and to do outdoor sport from 2 May.

Sánchez said the lockdown conditions in Spain would be eased over the next days and weeks, as ever, with the condition that the spread of the coronavirus continues to slow.

The announcement came in a televised press conference, just hours before children were allowed to go out for walks for the first time after six weeks of confinement.

The prime minister said that at the next Cabinet meeting on Tuesday ministers will approve a plan to establish how the rest of the state of alarm lockdown restrictions will be gradually eased from the middle of May.

The prime minister gave few details of rules regarding the walks people will be able to take with members of their households, how many people will be able to go out together or what sporting activities can be practised.
