A young man has died at the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella after suffering a fall from an electric scooter in Mijas. The Local Police in the Costa del Sol town are now investigating the circumstances of the incident to clarify if it was an accidental fall or if there was another vehicle involved.
It happened at around 4.30pm on Sunday, 15 August, on Calle Adarves in the Riviera del Sol area. The 112 Andalucía emergency control centre received a call to say that a young man had been injured after falling from an electric scooter.
The victim was rushed to the Costa del Sol Hospital, and admitted with a broken collarbone and two broken ribs. He also suffered a blow to the head that caused two blood clots, which needed operating on, and he was put into an induced coma.
After the first operation, the doctors detected that the young man had mobility problems on the right side of the body, so they operated on him again. Apparently, the operation went well but last Friday he passed away in the hospital.
Mijas Local Police officers have taken over the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident. It will focus on determining if the fall was accidental or if there was another vehicle involved. Police are scouring the area in search of security cameras that could have captured the incident.
It is reported that the young man had been using his electric scooter for more than a year and he was working to get his motorcycle licence.
