Bather, 59, dies on a Fuengirola beach

Local Police officers tried to revive the man on the seashore for several minutes, before paramedics took over

A 59-year-old bather died on a Fuengirola beach this Wednesday morning (20 October).

The emergency services were alerted at 11.15am reporting that a man was drowning on the Las Gaviotas beach in the Costa del Sol town.

Local Police officers, who were first on the scene, attempted to revive the Hungarian citizen. When paramedics arrived they took over the resuscitation manoeuvres but, eventually, were only able to certify the death of the bather.

National Police officers have taken over the investigation, but have ruled out the involvement of third parties in the death.
