National Police officers are investigating the death of a 20-year-old woman who died after allegedly taking drugs while on holiday in Fuengirola.

The young Finnish woman had only arrived on the Costa del Sol for a holiday a few days earlier, accompanied by her 24-year-old boyfriend.

The unconscious pair were found by the girl’s mother, who owns a property in the Los Pacos area, which is where they were staying.

SUR has learned, the young woman's mother heard strange breathing and loud snoring from her room that caught her attention. She entered the room and found the pair unconscious. When they did not react, she called the emergency services. An ambulance crew tried to revive the young woman, but all their efforts were in vain. Meanwhile, her boyfriend was rushed to the Costa del Sol Hospital, where he was admitted straight to the intensive care unit. After five days in a coma, he regained consciousness last Friday.

Narcotic substances were found in the room the pair occupied and the preliminary autopsy on the young woman, and the tests carried out on her boyfriend at the hospital, have revealed the use of different types of drugs, which are presumed to have caused the death of the 20-year-old.
