Infoca has, this Tuesday (14 September), authorised the 250 residents of Genalguacil to return to their homes. They had been evacuated, as a precaution, when the Sierra Bermeja fire devoured more than 10,00 hectares of land, after it broke out on 8 September.

The 112 Andalucía emergency service control centre has appealed to the residents for an "orderly and gradual" return to their homes.

Late on Monday, the residents of Jubrique, Faraján, Júzcar, Alpandeire and Pujerra were allowed to return, after being evacuated on Sunday due to the advance of the flames. Therefore, there are no longer any people displaced from their homes.

The last three roads that were still closed to traffic due to the Sierra Bermeja fire have also reopened this Tuesday after Infoca declared the fire under control at dawn. They are the MA-8301, MA-8302 and MA-8304 roads.

The rest of the affected roads were opened to traffic on Monday.
