More than 1,200 reservations already made for the 2023 Solheim Cup

Following the end of the 2021 competition in the United States, tickets for the tournament in Casares are already on sale due to the increase in demand

There are still two years to go before the Finca Cortesín course in Casares hosts the Solheim Cup, the quintessential international women's golf event that will take place from 18 to 24 September 2023.

Fans are already preparing for the popular event.

Íñigo Aramburu, general director of Deporte & Business who are organising the event in Spain, said that since the tickets have been put on sale in September, more than 1,200 hotel reservations have been made.

The European Solheim Cup team, led by Catriona Matthew, were proclaimed the winners of the 2021 competition for the second tournament in a row on 6 September, against all odds.

This has aroused even more excitement for this biennial event in which teams from the United States and Europe face each other.

Aramburu said: "We didn't plan to start the sale so soon, but we did because people had already started to demand it."

At the moment, tickets are on sale with a 20 per cent discount, for 159 euros for the whole week.

Hotel rooms are between 120 and 600 euros.

The next boost in bookings is expected at Christmas, and the rest are expected to come in 2023.

"The largest number of reservations have come from the United Kingdom, followed by Spain, although if we add the number of British and Irish people, they make up half of all reservations," explained the general director.

He commented that requests have also come from the United States, Sweden and even Australia and New Zealand.

"It is an event that arouses global interest, the best women's golf tournament in the world," Aramburu pointed out.

In fact, its media coverage is estimated to be worth 25 million euros with an economic impact for businesses of around 227 million euros and in excess of 100,000 attendees.

"Golf is a social event that transcends the world of sport," said the general director of Deporte & Business who also highlighted how women's golf brings a very favourable return on investment for companies.

However, lovers of this sport will not have to wait until 2023 to enjoy golf on the Costa del Sol.

Los Naranjos Golf Club will host this year's edition of the Andalucia Costa del Sol Spanish Women's Golf Open from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 November.

It will be the eighth time that the town of Marbella hosts this competition.

The contest in Los Naranjos will not only determine the winner of the tournament but also the woman classified first in the annual ranking.
