The project to extend the breakwater between Santa Ana and Malapesquera beaches in Benalmádena is to go ahead with a budget of 600,000, announced Javier Salas, central government's representative in Malaga province, on Wednesday.

"The government has given the final go-ahead for this project which will help solve the problems of erosion and improve this stretch of the Benalmádena coastline," said Salas.

"This is one of the greatest tourist resources in the province and the government has shown its commitment to this sector of our economy," he added.

Salas also announced that the draft national budget for 2022 (if it is approved by MPs) includes 1.3 million euros for this type of project to protect and nurture the beaches in the province of Malaga.
