A campaign has been launched to make sure that children, in a 'socially vulnerable situation' can start the new school year with some of the basic tools they need.
An initiative, promoted by the Carrefour Solidarity Foundation and the Cruz Roja (Red Cross), aims to collect school supplies including backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, markers, etc. to help families experiencing difficulties cope with the considerable expense at the start of the new term.
For the 13th edition of 'La Vuelta al Cole Solidaria', Malaga province will host collection points for the campaign in ten Carrefour hypermarkets: Alameda, Antequera, Estepona, Fuengirola, Los Patios, Mijas, Rincón de la Victoria, Rosaleda and Torremolinos (3, 4 and 5 September) and Valle del Guadalhorce (3 and 4 September).
In addition, Carrefour will donate 121,000 euros in school supplies.
The campaign will also be developed at a national level, and more than 4,500 Red Cross volunteers will participate in it. The local groups will be in charge of distributing the donated materials among the families who need help.
During the last campaign, as a result of the donation made by the company and the contributions made by the public, the Carrefour Solidarity Foundation gave the Red Cross school supplies worth 615,330 euros, that helped more than 15,500 children in vulnerable situations throughout Spain.
