Authorities have arrested four people and seized more than 300 kilos of hashish on the Costa del Sol after a four-hour police operation against drug trafficking.
The alarm was raised on Monday night, at around 8pm, when the Guardia Civil detected a suspicious boat heading for land in the Castillo de la Duquesa area, in Manilva. Police acted quickly and recovered nine bales of hashish that were being loaded into a vehicle. They also arrested one of the drug traffickers, while the others managed to flee in the boat, entering the sea again.
Then a maritime pursuit began involving a Guardia Civil patrol boat, which followed the drug-running boat to the Guadalmina area in Marbella, where it made land again. It was now 9pm and Guardia Civil and National Police arrested another of the drug traffickers, who jumped from the boat in an attempt to escape. According to sources, he resisted arrest, but was eventually captured and handcuffed.
Although the boat made off again from Guadalmina, it was detected several hours later. Around midnight, the Guardia Civil intercepted the boat when it was near Estepona port, where the last two arrests in the four-hour operation were made.
