Eight bathers, including five children, were rescued on a beach in Marbella at the weekend, after they became trapped in a rocky area by strong currents.
Municipal lifeguards on Cabopino beach spotted the group in difficulties at around 11.40am on Saturday morning, 7 August.
Two lifeguards, employed by Socorrismo Malaga, entered the sea, while a third stayed on land to help get the bathers out of the water, helped by a member of the public.
Some of the rescued bathers suffered cuts and bruises and one of the lifeguards required treatment at the Costa del Sol Hospital, before being discharged.
