Residents in Rincón de la Victoria are pressing for the creation of a dog beach in the town, and have collected 1,813 signatures on a petition that will be handed over to the local council.

The Podemos councillor Rosa Ramada will present a motion for debate at the council session this Thursday (29 July) in which she proposes the creation of the first dog beach in the municipality.

She said, in a statement, "the proposal has been very well received by animal associations, veterinarians and many people who want a decent dog beach to be able to go to without fear of being fined and reassured that their pets will not pick up injuries or cuts."

“Currently the only place where our pets can be taken is to the Totalán stream, with the danger of injuring their legs or catching an infection. For this reason, we want a beach like the one they have in Torre del Mar or Fuengirola, with facilities adapted to our pets and maintained by the town council,” she added.
