Helicopters and specialist teams tackle three wildfires in Malaga province

  • Two fires have been declared in the Axarquía and one in Estepona, on the Costa del Sol

Specialist firefighters are working this Monday (19 July) on the control and extinction of three wildfires in Malaga province.

Two are in the Axarquía region and one in Estepona, on the Costa del Sol.

The first fire was declared, this morning, in the small town of Salares in the Axarquia region, and a Kamov heavy-lift helicopter, a team of forest firefighters, an environmental agent and a fire engine were sent to the scene. The incident is already under control.

In Torrox, on the border with Cómpeta, another fire started, which was declared stabilised at 12.20 pm. It started in the Finca La Palmera area. A transport and fire extinguishing helicopter, a group of forest firefighters and two regular crews from the Malaga fire brigade are working to control the blaze.

The last to be declared was in Estepona, at 2.30pm. A transport and firefighting helicopter and teams on the ground are working to extinguish the fire, which was considered stabilised at 4pm.
