The National Police are investigating a crime that has all the signs of being a new case of gender violence in Malaga.

Initial investigations indicate that a man has killed his partner by shooting her with a shotgun and immediately afterwards took his own life with the same weapon.

The incident happened a few minutes before 9am on Thursday, 15 July, on Calle Fernán Núñez, at the door of the San Manuel school, where it is believed the woman worked as a cleaner and cook.

The 112 Andalucía emergency coordination centre received a dozen calls reporting the shotgun shooting.

According to eye witnesses, the 55-year-old Spanish man was waiting for his partner - also Spanish, 46 - at the door of the school.

According to the first police investigations, the man killed the woman with a shotgun and then turned the weapon on himself at the scene.

The National Police have said that there are no previous reports of gender violence between the pair, who had lived together for two years.

Malaga City Council has reported that at 10am on Friday (16 July), a minute of silence will be observed at the doors of the Town Hall.
