National Police officers in Marbella have arrested two men and seized more than 70 bottles of nitrous oxide, along with leaflets offering the supply of 'laughing gas' to private parties on the Costa del Sol.
It happened in the early hours of last weekend after two plain-clothes police officers in an unmarked car pulled over two vans. Inside they found more than 70 bottles of the nitrous oxide, which is often used in medical fields, but banned for recreational use under public health regulations.
Not only were bottles of 'laughing gas' found in the vans but there were also bags of balloons, which are used to consume the substance, as well as advertising brochures and price lists.
Sources have told SUR that when one of the police officers called the telephone number on the leaflets the mobile phone of one of the two men detained rang.
The National Police have already warned about the proliferation of this substance, which is believed to be behind the death of a young man and the very serious injuries suffered by two others in Marbella in the last month.
