Zero deaths as Malaga's coronavirus infection rate rises 10.6 points over the weekend

  • The cumulative incidence rate for Covid-19 stands at 160.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the province in the last 14 days

No coronavirus deaths were reported in Malaga province over the weekend but the infection rate has risen, this Monday (7 June), some 10.6 points in relation to Friday and has reached 160.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days.

Despite this increase, the cumulative incidence of the province remains below the Andalusian average, which is 187.3.

The Malaga health district with the highest rate in the last 14 days is La Vega de Antequera (315.9), followed by Valle del Guadalhorce (205.4), Serranía (187.3), Costa del Sol (163.5), Malaga (133.1) and the Axarquía (101.1).

Over the weekend, 253 new Covid positive cases were registered in Malaga, while some 266 patients recovered from the disease and no deaths were reported in the province.

In Andalucía, 1,600 infections were reported on Saturday and Sunday and there was one coronavirus death over the weekend, bringing the total in the region during the pandemic, so far, to 10,073.

In Malaga hospitals there are 104 Covid-19 patients admitted (six more than Sunday), of whom 16 are in an intensive care unit (one fewer than the day before). There are 746 patients in hospital with Covid in Andalucía, which represents an increase of 35 compared to the previous day. On the other hand, the number in an intensive care unit has dropped from 178 to 171.
