National Police officers have arrested a man in San Pedro Alcántara, Marbella, after he cut off a piece of his friend’s nose following a heated argument between his wife and the victim.

The incident took place early in the morning on Saturday 29 May. Around 2:15am, the two men arrived together at the home of one of them, located in the centre of Marbella. They then apparently began to argue on the street outside.

The police station has reported that, allegedly, one of the men subsequently got into a heated argument with the other man’s wife. Further enquires suggest that the alleged aggressor then went into his home, grabbed a knife, returned to the scene and attacked his friend.

The victim, a 34-year-old Spaniard, took himself to the health centre in San Pedro Alcántara, where the medical staff alerted the National Police by calling 091.

A piece of the man’s nose had been chopped off and there were various cuts on his head and neck. Eventually, he was taken to a hospital in Marbella.

After interviewing the victim and gathering information, various police officers went to the home of the aggressor, who has been arrested for his alleged implication in a crime of grievous bodily harm. The officers also seized a 20cm-knife in the man’s home, with which it is believed he carried out the attack.

The detainee is a 37-year-old man of Spanish nationality. Sources consulted by SUR indicate that he has a criminal record, predominantly for crimes against public property.
