The old cinema in Casares, which has been closed and vacant since the 1970s, has been purchased by the council which plans to convert it into a public space for cultural events.

Located on Calle Fuente, the iconic building was purchased for 120,000 euros and will also house new municipal offices.

The building has two floors and is over 500 square metres in size. The purchase agreement also includes the adjoining plot that connects the old cinema with the area corresponding to the municipal swimming pool and the sports facilities. This will allow for the creation of further recreational areas.

This project forms part of the council’s ambitions to recover and restore older buildings in the municipality, especially those of sentimental value such as this one.
