Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found on Sunday night with gunshot wounds on the luxury Capanes del Golf development, in Benahavís on Spain's Costa del Sol.
The alarm was raised late Sunday night when police located a high-end car with a man inside who had been shot several times.
Sources suggest that it could be a murder carried out by professionals in which automatic weapons were used.
And, at this early stage in the investigation, everything points to a new settling of scores incident, a type of violence that has become more common in recent years.
The spiral of violence that the Costa del Sol experienced in 2018 and 2019 - the bloodiest two years in memory - was slowed last year thanks to police operations and also the Covid-19 pandemic, which stopped much of the activity of drug traffickers and organised crime in its tracks.
