The ProDunas association, based in Marbella, has announced a new campaign in a bid to give species local to the Malaga coast a better chance to thrive.
The method to be employed with be to collect seeds in the dune environment of Marbella, grow them elsewhere, then return them to as close as possible to their original location.
The campaign, which will be launched next Tuesday with the first collection, will be carried out in collaboration with the Fundación Tutelar (Fundatul), an organisation which helps to train those with disabilities for the labour market.
This activity is necessary, ProDunas says, because some plantlife is struggling in areas where there is large human presence as well as aggressive invasive species. On the other hand, this is also intended to train Fundatul's users in social skills.
