Two local sports clubs will be helping a 12-year-old boy with cerebral palsy to reach the top of La Maroma mountain on Sunday.
Being able to enjoy the views and nature at the top of Malaga province's highest mountain (2,066 metres) is the dream of Periana resident Álvaro Molina.
Álvaro will be using a Joëlette one-wheeled adapted wheelchair for the ascent and will be joined by his parents as well as members of the Torre del Mar beach running club and Periana's Perianda club who will assist him and his wheelchair.
Periana town hall and the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Axarquía, which oversees the area's town halls, are also collaborating in Álvaro's challenge.
Álvaro hopes his ascent will pave the way for a project to help people with reduced mobility to enjoy mountains and nature.
