The daily bulletin from the regional Health ministry on Thursday was reminiscent of the hardest days of the pandemic, with the announcement that seven people had died in the previous 24 hours in Malaga province with coronavirus. So far in September, 17 people have died after contracting SARS-CoV-2.
Health data also showed on Thursday that Malaga province, including the Costa del Sol, had a rate of 171 positive PCR tests per 100,000 people in the previous two weeks, versus 128 in the Andalucía region as a whole. Some 228 were in the province's hospitals with Covid-19 on Thursday, of whom 31 were in intensive care.
There were 292 new positive test results recorded in the previous 24 hours for Malaga province while 34 localised outbreaks were still being monitored.
