The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, said on Wednesday that the new stricter obligation to wear a face mask would not put tourists off coming to the region.

Moreno said the measure was "proportional and timely" as the Junta de Andalucía aims to avoid situations currently affecting regions with more new cases such as Catalonia and Aragon.

He said that by introducing the regulation Andalucía was offering safety "which is what tourists are demanding".

He added that the measure would be a "decisive" factor in tourists choosing to come to the region.
