More Covid-19 patients discharged to take strain off Malaga hospitals

After the number of people given the all-clear after testing positive for Covid-19 in Malaga province officially passed 1,000 on Thursday, another 65 patients joined the recovered list on Friday, taking the total up to 1,119, according to data published by the Junta de Andalucía regional government.

This news, however, was overshadowed by that of a further four deaths were confirmed on Friday (one fewer than those reported on Thursday), bringing the total number to 241.

Some 98 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Malaga on Friday (14 more than on Thursday). These are being attributed to increased testing being carried out but still points towards stabilisation.

Across Andalucía, Friday's figure showed that 258 more people tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the regional total up to 12,495.

However, the number of those being given the all-clear continues to increase. By Friday there were 3,992, an increase of 145.

What's more, the number of patients with Covid-19 in Andalusian hospitals continues to fall, now at 937. Currently 223 are in intensive care.
