  • So far 183 coronavirus-related fatalities have been confirmed in the area, while new case figures fall

Official coronavirus figures announced by the Andalusian Health authorities on Monday show no new confirmed deaths in the province of Malaga in the last 24 hours, leaving the current total at 183.

The total, however, should be considered bearing in mind that a backlog in confirmations tends to build up over weekends and holidays, so Tuesday's figures are likely to be higher.

Drop in new cases

The number of new cases was also down on Monday. Fourteen confirmed diagnoses in Malaga and the Costa del Sol were announced by the authorities, significantly fewer that the 60 reported on Sunday.

Figures released later this week, however, will confirm the downward trend in the spread of the disease. When more tests are carried out, the number of cases is expected to rise.

The number of recovered Covid-19 patients in Malaga province - counted by the authorities - is now at 583, of the total of 2,217 cases.

In Andalucía as a whole, 181 new cases were reported on Monday, taking the total up to 10,187. The authorities put the number of fatalities in the region at 815.
