An Italian father and son, 50 and 29, have been arrested by National Police in Benalmádena for allegedly being part of the so-called Buco gang (hole in Italian).
The fugitives escaped to Spain as Italian police rounded up members of the gang, known for moving through sewers and emerging, armed and masked, from manholes to commit their hold-ups. The gang got away with 800,000 euros in jewellery from a shop in Naples last June.
The arrested pair, A. C. and S. C., had been living in Benalmádena. Police seized fake IDs, mobile phones and 4,000 euros in cash during the arrests.
