The annual Christmas charity book fair held in Benalmádena last month raised more than 2,000 euros for the Cudeca Cancer Hospice. Held in the municipal library in Arroyo de la Miel, the market offered more than 5,000 second- hand books, magazines and audio-visual aids. In addition to helping Cudeca, the initiative is part of the town's recycling programme and also aims to foster an interest in reading.
The money will be added to the 2,562 euros that has been raised during the weekly book market held throughout the year.
A town hall spokesperson said, "The library aims to help the Cudeca Foundation in its invaluable work, while recycling and giving a second life to something as valuable as books."
