The Plaza Mayor shopping centre close to Malaga Airport has announced the opening of the latest part of the upgrade and expansion plan of owners Sonae Sierra.
The centre is expected to unveil in the next month a food court with higher-end eating places than previously seen there. The 1,800-square-metre space has been carved out from the existing surface area by removing six of the 20 cinema screens at the Yelmo cinema complex.
Although the area is ready, it will take a few weeks for the restaurant operators to move in. Among the eight openings will be Amigos (an Indian-Mexican fusion chain), Fish&Go, El Kiosko (a gastrobar) and Attenti al Cane, a local Italian restaurant.
Other parts of Plaza Mayor are currently being upgraded as the mall prepares to join up later this year with a large, new outlet village on land next door which is owned by British developer, McArthurGlen.
