Hispanist Ian Gibson helped unveil a plaque in Malaga this week which records the time spent by poet Federico García Lorca in the city. In fact the García Lorcas regularly travelled from Granada to spend their summers in Malaga's Hotel Hernán Cortés.

Federico's letters and postcards sent to figures such as the painter Benjamín Palencia and composer Manuel de Falla reflect his admiration for the city.

Lorca specialist Gibson joined government delegate María Gámez on Monday for an event held at the former hotel, now central government offices.
