Towns on the western Costa del Sol increase recycling tally

Figures released by the western Costa del Sol's Mancomunidad, which oversees refuse collection in eleven towns, show that recycling in the area increased in 2018. Paper and card collection was up 11% with nearly 10,000 tonnes; this works out at 20.65 kilos per resident per year, while the Andalusian average is 11.2 kilos per inhabitant.

Plastic and packaging collection went up by 7% in 2018, with nearly 11 tonnes - an average of 22.7 kilos per inhabitant while the regional average is 10.6 kilos.

Glass recycling was up by 5.5% last year on the western Costa, with 12,300 tonnes, an average of 26.4 kilos per person, also more than twice the regional average.
