The Plaza del Mar, the open space above the car park and shopping centre alongside the seafront at the western end of central Marbella, has had a revamp. Local residents had been complaining about the poor state of repair and overall neglect. Now the council has completed a 200,000-euro makeover, with repaired water features, new lighting and some 3,000 flowers and plants. Visiting the new-look square last week, the mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, said a children's play park would also be installed shortly.
