The first phase of the police campaign against the illegal street selling of falsified items in the municipality of Marbella has culminated in 17 arrests. The intervention, which began in May, has also led to authorities closing down five associated market stalls and an establishment that served as a storage and distribution point for fake branded items.
Officers confiscated 1,400 articles from those selling on foot and an additional 677 articles from markets stalls in Puerto Banús and Marbella.
At the storage and distribution point, a further 2,769 items were found. The municipal police department has also closed off another, smaller establishment that is suspected as having the same purpose.
