The council in Estepona has started work on a new dog park covering 1,000 square metres by Avenida Litoral, the main road into the town from Marbella and next to the La Cala stream bed, close to Carrefour.
Work is finishing on clearing the area of undergrowth and different items of street furniture are due to be installed from next week.
A water fountain for the dogs will be installed, as well as agility games, benches, rubbish bins, dispensers for plastic bags for owners to pick up dog dirt and a place to leave bicycles.
Trees to give shade will also be planted. The area will have a two-metre-high fence around it as well.
Councillor for Parks and Gardens, Sergio Rodríguez, explained that this location was chosen due to the improvements to the coastal walkway and a big increase in dog walkers.
Estepona got its first dog park in 2014 in the Las Mesas area.
