There is no tourism-phobia in Andalucía, said regional president Susana Díaz at Fitur on Wednesday, but the region has to ensure that the anti-tourist feeling seen in Barcelona this year does not reach southern Spain.
To this end, Díaz announced that the regional authority would be keeping an eye on tourism numbers in Andalusian resorts by means of capacity controlling regulations.
Growth has to be sustainable, said the president, adding however that it won't be difficult for Andalucía to prevent overcrowding.
Díaz also defended the recent regulations to control private rented tourist accommodation and called for inspection services to crack down on illegal apartments.
